DESIGN
When designing, use a reputable vehicle outline,
such as an Impact Vehicle Outline, to ensure
the scales you are designing on are correct; this
will reduce the risk of problems occurring in the
application stage.
SURVEY
It’s always a good idea to see the vehicle
or a photo of the vehicle, before you
start. This gives you the opportunity to
become aware of any modifications that
have been made to the vehicle that may
affect the positioning of the graphics
and to check you have the right vehicle
outline for the design stage.
Design the layout, avoiding gaps and recesses on
panels that may affect the readability of the text.
Plan your wraps by utilising panel edges to hide
joins.
Check the vehicle for any damaged or
problematic areas where you plan to
apply the graphics. This allows you to
bring these things to the client’s attention
and pre-warn them of any potential
problems that could occur as a result, to
prevent dissatisfaction.
Consider how detailed graphics will
look if designed into deep recesses
(there’s a good chance they will
become distorted) - design around
this.
Taking these considerations into
account will determine the desired
finish and profitability of the job.
